Hello Sweet Blogging World,
When I asked my sweet friend Biddy to help me set up this blog, I was thinking of the summer. As a teacher, summer becomes the vessel for ALL of the activities, events, ideas and creative outlets that seem impossible to maintain during the school year. I suggested to her that I would blog on the weekends, until my ticket to freedom arrived. THAT WAS OVER A MONTH AGO! I am not saying that I haven't thought about the blog, I have. Usually while in the shower, or while lucid dreaming on a Sunday morning. But between the three kids, the teaching, the husband and the cat... I never made it to the computer. So today, with report cards due, a miserable cold, and a couple of very stressed, exam-ridden, high school students... I suddenly find a moment... NOTHING MAKES SENSE!!!!!
In the chaos of this previous weekend, I remembered a poem. It made me laugh out loud and recall why I started this blog in the first place. Poetry makes me feel better. Writing it, reading it, remembering it... So here is a limerick. It was written about me over 20 years ago. The poet remains anonymous (though I have an inkling who may have written it) and after years of effort, I can honestly say that I have managed to live up to every word of it. So here goes...
OYAMA 1987- SAY CHEESE!
There once was a girl named Sal-lee
Who circumcised men with her teeth
It wasn't for money
Or anything funny
It was just for the cheese underneath!
