Oh my! I have no idea how I managed to post a poem a day for a YEAR!!!! I already forgot to post yesterday... Not a good start! I did head into the gallery yesterday and record my poem for the day... So here is yesterdays poem, as well as today's! I'm sure (I hope) that I get into a rhythm... Thank you for your patience!
From Tuesday October 27th
An Alphabet Poem
A guest visited our class today
By the name of
Cecelia
Driven by the need to share
Every human's worst nightmare and
Fear
Guided by the need to set our
History straight
In her story we discovered the
Journey one takes after experiencing Cultural Genocide
Kindling the past so as to move forward
Leaving the atrocities of Residential Schools behind
Making a concerted effort to
Negotiate a future in a country that
Oppressed and disrespected her
People
Questioning her identity and
Re-discovering her place
Students were moved and felt compassion for her
Trauma
Understanding the impact Canada has had on young
Victims of racial discrimination
Will only heal over time if inequality becomes e-
Xtinct
You can help this happen with a
Zero tolerance policy on racism
