Venus Kid Trap
Today I wore a shirt
that attracted one and all.
Little, sniveling, curly kids,
and those who are quite tall.
They came from all directions,
they reached and groped and stroked.
They caught me in a corner
and bleated like some goats.
They fondled and they petted,
they rubbed and slid their hands.
They hung out in my bubble,
and hovered in the stands.
It's not at all just me they want,
and for that I'm not hurt.
It's the draw of fabric silky, soft
on my velvet shirt.
It got all their attention,
their thought it did inspire.
But later on when I got home,
the shirt went in the fire.
Don't think that I don't like
their magnetic draw to me.
It's that I need a little space
to breathe and freely be!
