Indigestion
The serenity
of the
long, peaceful,
celebratory weekend,
came to an
abrupt halt
when my
alarm
went off at
5:00 am.
The dramatic
polarity
stayed with me
all day.
I recalled how
just yesterday
I sat by
The Falls,
valuing
and
savoring
each breath.
Today I
gasped for air,
and moved
through space
as though
being chased
by a dog.
I felt
followed,
on the verge
of being
discovered,
like a criminal
afraid of
being identified.
I came home
and wrote a
poem
criticizing
my boss (again),
but I didn't
post it,
for fear of
retribution.
Instead
I tried
to focus
on the positives,
realizing that
I have many.
Sometimes,
they just get
hidden and
obscured
at the bottom
of the
stew pot.
I swapped
my strainer
for a ladle,
and dipped
deep,
unveiling
all that is
concealed.
